Our studio specialises in make-over and boudoir photography, this will mainly be aimed at females but may attract men on occasion. Boudoir photography is a sensual and personal style of photography; it is very much a way of celebrating beauty and femininity but all done in a very tasteful and classy way. As we also offer a make-over option our ethos is all about feeling special, pampered and beautiful and coming away with images that reflect this. When advertising, this is the message that we would like to send out.
In the previous advertising post I have gathered a wide range of advertising options and their possible prices. From the list I think that for our business would benefit most from advertising in the following places:
- Internet/website
- Magazines - mainly ones aimed at women over the age of 16 as this will be our main clientele
- Local newspapers
The cost of advertising in these places will vary depending on which magazines, newspapers, domain name and website hosting site that you decide to advertise with of buy from. Another price difference would be whether you decided to build your own website or pay somebody to do it for you.
- Internet/Website - Choosing to build the website ourselves would cost £4.99 a month for domain name, http://www.rougestudio.co.uk/, and hosting from http://www.1and1.co.uk/
- Magazines - to advertise most magazines charge roughly the same amount, here is a quote that I received from one:
30mm x 33mm (3cm x 1 column) advert which can contain contact information with a background picture, or a larger 30mm x 70mm (3cm x 2 columns)
£65 + VAT per month per insertion for the 30x33mm ad and £100 + VAT per month per insertion for the 30x70mm ad.
I would choose the larger advert costing £117.50 per month.
- Local Newspaper - Advertising in local newspapers is quite expensive compared to advertising on the internet. For a 30x60mm it costs £36.19 per appearance.
I would find out which day has the highest newspaper sales and place an advert in the newspaper on this day each week.
Monthly (4 weekly) cost would be £144.76
Total monthly advertising cost would be £267.25
